This is an extraordinary time for yoga in the United States, which translates as an exceptional time for development and opportunity for the Mid-Atlantic Yoga Association.
MAYA has redesigned this website with help from a talented design team at the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University. We continue to provide the features you’ve told us you love most, like the Yoga Events Calendar. And in 2010, we will expand our content further.
MAYA has concluded a strategic planning process during 2009 resulting in a new Mission Statement. MAYA, is a non-profit organization, that fosters and supports a thriving yoga community in the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC through creating connections, reaching out to underserved communities, training and education, and being a resource hub.
The Board has selected the following objectives to implement the Mission Statement
- Creating Connections
- Networking with D.C. area yoga studios, teachers, and students and similar organizations in other regions
- DC/Maryland/VA Yoga Weeks & Global Mala
- The first-ever DC Yoga Film Festival in 2010
- Reaching Out to Underserved Communities
- Fundraising to help bring yoga into schools, prisons, domestic violence shelters, etc
- Partnering with like-minded organizations
- Training and Education, including:
- The Yogathon and CEU classes
We want to hear from you. Let us know what you think MAYA should be doing. We hope you will volunteer to help us achieve these objectives
We hope the material offered on this website and in our eNewsletter will inspire you to share your own efforts with others through the broad network that is the Mid-Atlantic Yoga Association.
